Jami K. Hale is a seasoned family law litigator with over a decade of experience helping individuals and families navigate complex legal and emotional transitions. Recently joining Capps Law Firm PLLC, Jami brings a deep commitment to advocacy, especially for clients facing vulnerable circumstances.
For more than 12 years, Jami has practiced exclusively in family law – as both a solo practitioner and as a dedicated legal advocate for underserved populations at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. Throughout her career, she has handled everything from high-conflict custody disputes to collaborative resolutions, always centering her approach on clarity, compassion, and results.
Her family has been in Austin for generations. While Jami was born on a military base to parents who both served in the U.S. Marine Corps, her family returned to Austin when she was just 10 months old, and she’s considered herself a true Austinite ever since. Her roots in the community run deep, and so does her passion for service.
Jami earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of North Texas in 2008, where she majored in Legal Studies and minored in Alternative Dispute Resolution. She went on to graduate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2012, where she continued honing her advocacy skills and commitment to justice.
In addition to her legal practice, Jami remains an active volunteer, offering her time and expertise through the free legal clinics for veterans, Ask-A-Lawyer events, the Texas Advocacy Project, and Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas. She also partners with organizations that support foster and adoptive families, as well as the LGBTQ+ community.
Her professional excellence and community service have been recognized with numerous honors, including:
